Cutting Edge Technology
Imagine having the ability to take a source of sound, the other end of the microphone jack, a note on a MIDI keyboard, and being able to move it within a big 3 dimensional box.
Lets make the box as big as a cinema or a planetarium. Imagine the sound of the osprey, feathers cutting through the air as it swoops within that 3 dimensional cube. The eyes may see but also the ears hear, following, the swoop, turning, gliding and landing as the bird calls.
Imagine a device that can deliver, with incredible clarity, that sound or several sound sources (tracks of a multi-track playback) and position, glide, describe, each movement within the 3 dimensional box A system that remembers the relationship between time and the movement of the sound or sound sources.
Link the movement of one axis of the sound to a MIDI feature, such as the pressure of your fingers on the keyboard. When you press harder, after striking the note, you can make the chord move away towards the audience. Link another to the pitch of the note and have high notes on stage right, low notes on stage left.
Combine this with a small 2.5" by 2.5" handheld tablet, a plan-view screen and miniature joystick that shows you the track of the sound, even when you are not listening. You do not have to hear the sound to know where the sound is being re-created. Imagine watching the diagram of the sound moving and the joystick waiting for your correction when you touch it. The system remembering your correction and updating the sounds path.
Synchronized the sound systems for film (SMPTE) and TV that this system is entirely compatible with, Dolby® IMAX®/OMNIMAX®. Link this to the existing position of the speakers that will produce the stereo sound and a mathematical whiz inside the system that does all the necessary calculations.
