Systems, Service Engineer, Instrumentation and Controls, Software Application, Consultant:

• Project planning for I&C in facilities systems group. Identified short fall in quality engineering documentation, created "Recommended Practices" for software, mechanical and electrical engineering groups. Introduced "co-operative engineering"approach to Supervisory Controls And Data Acquisition (SCADA) for environmental additions including Modicon / Modbus Plus Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and associated Intellution Human Machine Interface (HMI).
• Structured engineering documentation up-date procedures. Customized client’s software to support the reverse-engineering and issuance of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID)s and related documentation for client's 2 chemical plants.
• By physical inspection, re-engineered, verified plant P&IDs using AutoCAD. Up-graded plant instrument, computer - PLC I/O, equipment, electrical and drawing databases for efficient compliance with ISO 9000, "Responsible Care", IMS , OSHA and client plant maintenance requirements.
• Client representative during fabrication of offshore drilling platform; requiring comprehensive understanding of contract documents and ability to create a cooperative approach to contractor’s installation and client’s inspection programs.
• Developed and maintained instrument specs; analyzed bids for oil and gas plant instrumentation; customized software to interconnect mainframe and personal computer.
• Developed digital, analog and computer training programs with special emphasis on problem-solving techniques.
• Evaluated instrumentation systems for oil refinery; designed, developed, and implemented cost reduction programs; investigated and rectified plant operating hardware and software; wrote sections of plant operator’s manual; activities required close liaison with financial, process engineering, environmental, computer analysis, and plant operation groups.
• Web page design within small 100 MBPS LAN and "www" from WinNT environment. Consultant for client's e-mail and web page linking.
• Designed field instrument racks/panels; procured, tested, calibrated, and serviced digital, analog, and pneumatic instruments in USA, Canada, and Caribbean. Assignments also included electrical and electronic drafting; wiring; testing; programming and repair of electronic calculators and desktop computers.
• Set up Instrument calibration procedures, schedules and methods; responsible for process system evaluation and inventory control. Supervised instrument loop calibration and acceptance of Foxboro Performance Monitoring System. Supervised and trained personnel in all aspects of instrumentation; supervised installation group.
• Set up service department in Singapore; hired, trained, and supervised local personnel; designed offshore instrument housings and packages.
• Field-serviced minicomputers / peripherals, instruments, and gas chromatographs throughout S.E. Asia;
• Hardware / software problem analysis of MultiBus System using OmniByte Single board computer (with embedded Motorola 68000/20 CPU) in 8 board multi-user environment. System was used by financial institutions for approval of loan applications.
• Created diagnostic test procedures. Set up diagnostic test standards for modems, memory, I/O and CPU. Demonstrated and supervised board and equipment repair to component level. Developed and wrote assembly machine code computer diagnostics, designed digital and mechanical equipment; was technical liaison to Mexican subsidiary.
• Supervised, planned, and scheduled work of electro-mechanical, electronic, and manufacturing engineering groups; developed drawing review and approval system for equipment manufacture.
• Developed and implemented part numbering and identification system for 10,000 line items; recommended and started formal quality control inspection program.
• Implemented computerized on-line Bill of Materials system as part of start-up MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) project.
• Sold personal and multi-user computer systems; developed promotional program; wrote technical and applications programs; organized small business management assistance.
